HOW BIG IS THE SKYRIM PC DOWNLOAD INSTALL
I've done the patch install and a full uninstall/reinstall couple times now since Harrowstorm release and here's what I can now confirm -> You should be able to simply delete the non-english folders. With the new file sizes those two folders would total 16-17GB which would account for the difference you are seeing. The steam version folder contains voice-over language folders other than english. (also note that when you do a full reinstall the download data is precisely 87.3GB on steam PC version) Have plenty of disk space so not upset or anything, just genuinely curious why the discrepancy of nearly +22GB actual installed footprint vs patch notes claim ~66GB. However, I also did a full uninstall, then reinstall and the size is again ~88GB. On my installation it took ~88GB when I used launcher to simply update over old installation, like most people did I imagine. Patch notes said installed client size would now be smaller, and ~66GB Like this post? Tell us what you think in the comments section below. It remains to be seen, if this is Bethesda’s best work yet, but looking at all the materials released so far, Skyrim should be an amazing game. The game will release in November 11th this year, and is shaping up to be a strong contender for GOTY. It should be same for the PS3 version too. Works well on PC,” he explained.Ĭonsole owners need not worry about the quality of the game, as the Xbox 360 version has been extensively demoed and it looks stunning. “ The UI was designed to make the game more accessible, not for any one console. It’s not made with consoles in mind but works evenly across all platforms. He also said that the UI is a lot more accessible and works really well on the PC. Hey, I might seem optimistic, but at least it’ll be a lot of fun. This is good news to people who are expecting a polished game from Bethesda. Will the game feature a lot of bugs like Fallout 3? Well you shouldn’t count on it as he did say the engine is a lot more optimized this time around. It’s huge yet more optimized than we’ve had before. He also said that their compression techniques have improved so much that they can fit the entire game in that size.Īccording to Pete Hines, “ 6 gigs: New engine & we’re much better at compression (art/voice/data).

Shocked again? Yeah, maybe they’re using a modified version of *gasp* Gamebryo or an entirely new engine, but he mentioned that it is “new”.

He said that they have a new engine this time. Well, it seems that we have the answer now as Pete Hines explained why that is the case. Games like Witcher 2 take almost 10 GB – 16 GB of space and since Skyrim will be much more expansive than that, how did Bethesda do it? Were you shocked when Bethesda announced that Skyrim is just 6 GB? Considering the game is so gigantic, it must have been a puzzling moment for many.
